Journey from the imperial city of Fes, across the diverse landscapes of the Middle Atlas Mountains, straight into the heart of the Sahara Desert at Merzouga. This 3-day tour is a magical transition from the ancient spiritual capital to the sprawling dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Experience camel trekking at sunset, sleep under the stars in a luxury desert camp, and listen to traditional Gnawa music, discovering the profound tranquility and immense scale of the Moroccan Sahara.
Experience Itinerary
Day 1: Fes to Merzouga via Ifrane and Ziz Valley
Leave Fes and drive through Ifrane, the 'Switzerland of Morocco', and the cedar forests of Azrou. Continue through the spectacular Ziz Valley oasis before arriving at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Switch to camels for a sunset ride to your desert camp. Dinner and overnight in the camp.
Day 2: Explore the Sahara and Nomadic Culture
Wake up early for a spectacular desert sunrise. After breakfast, embark on a 4x4 exploration around the dunes. Visit a local nomadic family, drink tea, and learn about their lifestyle. Visit the village of Khamlia to listen to spiritual Gnawa music. Return to your accommodation at the dune edge.
Day 3: Merzouga to Fes (or onward to Marrakech)
After your final desert morning, begin the journey back north towards Fes, or optionally continue your journey towards the southern routes to Marrakech (if selected during booking), arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.
